Car Rental

Choosing to rent a car can be a rather confusing and expensive exercise - especially if you are not properly prepared to handle the questions that arise. For example, it is wise to avoid hasty decision making by considering how much money you feel comfortable spending and what kind of car would best suit your needs before you reserve it. If you take the time to do this first, you will be less likely to regret the decisions you have made.

It is also wise to remember that terms such as 'compact', 'midsize' and 'luxury' sometimes have different meanings amongst the various rental agencies. Another good idea is calling more than one rental agency and comparing their car rental rates before making a final decision.

Many car rental companies check the driving records of possible customers before allowing them to receive the rental. Any customers who do not meet the standards of the company will be rejected, even if they have a confirmed reservation. For this reason, it is wise to ask if the company checks driving records long before the time comes for picking up the rental.

Most companies offer car rental coupons for week or weekend packages which can be used to save money. Always ask about the restrictions of such offers before considering whether you will be able to make use of them.

There are many additional charges, such as fuel charges and underage driver fees, which could increase the advertised rate of a car rental. It would be wisest to check on such charges before choosing to rent a car from a company as they all ultimately affect the price of the rental. Ensure that you are aware of all charges before signing the rental agreement.
