CD/CD-WR/DVD/DVD-R Drives
Most computers come standard with a CD drive . This drive can be used to listen to audio cd’s or to run software programs off of a data CD disc. However it cannot write information to a disc which can be a bit of a hassle to those wanting to store information.
For a little more money you can usually get your CD drive swapped for a CD-RW drive. This kind of drive is much more advantageous as it allows you to write information to disc as well as read it. However, a CD-RW drive will not enable you to write or read DVD ’s.
A DVD drive is handy as it allows you to read information stored on DVD discs or even to watch DVD movies on your computer. This means that your DVD player will also be able to read a DVD that you have burned on your computer.
While most of CD/CD-RW/DVD drivers are stored internally in your computers hardware, external versions are available. Internal drives are generally neater and more popular, but there are those individuals who do not have adequate space for their device in their computers case. Thus, they could purchase an external version. External drives can also be purchased for portable computers. These will usually be connected to your computer via a USB cable.
